Appartement Moosmann Mellau · Bregenzerwald
Rustic Stube with an old tiled stove, wooden table and warm evening light in the Moosmann house
Your hosts

The Moosmann family

„Meor ehrod das Ault, und grüssed das Nü.“ — We honour the old and greet the new. A Bregenzerwald saying that describes rather well what happened here during the renovation.

Welcome gift on the dining table: apples, homemade jam and a bottle of homemade egg liqueur
The three of us

Who works
here.

The house in Übermellen has been in the family for generations. The top-floor apartments used to be lofts and storerooms — today they are the Kanisfluh and Hangspitz apartments. The Mittagsspitze Apartment is on the ground floor.

We do the letting ourselves, we clean ourselves, and if something breaks, someone is usually at the door within the hour. That is the advantage of hosts who live in the same house.

What we let is shown in the overview of the units; what it costs is on the prices page.

Roles

Who does what

Sonja Moosmann

Lettings, breakfast, heart and soul

Sonja runs the lettings, cooks breakfast and knows which hiking trail is free of snow right now. When guests come back, it is mostly because of her.

Steve Moosmann

Renovation and design

Steve designed and rebuilt the three apartments. The brief was to keep the old fabric — beams, floors, proportions — and still make it a place to live in today.

Slavko

Craftsmanship and maintenance

Slavko, Sonja's husband, is the man for anything that sticks, drips or creaks. He did most of the renovation work himself.

What we offer

Beyond the letting

Insider tips for the region

This is our home, and we are always happy to share what we know: routes for biking and hiking, in summer and in winter, and the corners of Mellau and the Bregenzerwald that you won’t find in any brochure. Guided mountain hikes and bike tours by arrangement.

Käsknöpfle and barbecue evenings

There is a barbecue in the garden. In the common room we will cook original Bregenzerwald Käsknöpfle — the local cheese spätzle — Kaiserschmarrn or other Austrian classics on request.

Homemade

Jam, schnapps and whatever else the garden yields. There is usually some of it on the table to welcome you.

Dogs are welcome

Guests regularly describe us as “very dog-friendly” — we are happy to take that.

Very friendly hosts, nice conversations, very, very dog-friendly, everything newly renovated. Great view of the Kanisfluh. Very nice bathroom, everything we needed in the kitchen. We were warmly welcomed with apples, sweets and fresh flowers. We slept wonderfully, felt very much at home, went on lovely outings and had a really good rest!
